About

Jo was rummaging through her parents’ closet and discovered an AE-1 Canon. A few rolls of color film and cemetery visits later, she was hooked and started producing her own fine art and travel photography. She currently uses two DSLRs, one SLR, and one medium format camera to suit her photographic needs, named Nikki, Casper, Milton and Ruby, respectively.

Fun-fact: her great-uncle, Michael DiBiase, was a prominent photographer in New York during the 1970’s and 1980’s and spent years photographing for The American Numismatic Society. His work can be found in exhibition archives along with Ansel Adams and Minor White. They both share an affinity for black and white landscape photography, Jo’s favorite medium. While her great-uncle gravitated toward the unpopulated scenery of nature, she prefers decrepit and abandoned places.

  1. Jo, I worked with your great uncle Michael for several years as his assistant at The American Numismatic Society. We were good friends. I hope that you will take a moment to let me know when he passed away and how. I absolutely thought the world of him. Harry Stern

  2. Jo, I took a critique class with your great uncle Michael at the School of Visual Arts. I was thinking of him lately, googled him and came up with your blog. He was a special guy. How long ago did he pass away?

    Thanks.
